Richmond is simply a beautiful place to live.
The life work balance is always a difficult one. Finding beautiful surroundings that offer a calming atmosphere can offset stressful times at work and home and make life more manageable. Richmond offers a tranquil environment, with the reassurance of good schools and low crime rates. Good trade routes and a strong business network add to the attraction of this historic market town.
The gateway to Swaledale, Richmond has long been known and revered by walkers who have discovered the idyllic town as they plotted a course along the award winning Coast to Coast, a walk coming second only to the famous Chichen Itza walk in Mexico.
Literary greats such as Wainwright and Herriot have marvelled at the beautiful town that has evolved through hundreds of years and retained pockets of times past. The Norman castle still dominates the skyline of Richmond and creates a beautiful backdrop for the Georgian fronted town centre with its attractive double fronted facades and the largest cobbled market place in the country. Walk down an old flagstone alley and discover the oldest, Grade 1 Listed, award winning living theatre, which is the most complete working Georgian Theatre in the country. Old has become new too - with the former railway station now home to 2 cinemas, a cafe and restaurant, a gallery, and six artisnal food producers including, beer, cheese, bread, chocolate and icecream.
Supporting the heart of this beautiful town is a business pulse that offers excellent local supplies, easily accessible support services and a network of businessmen and women keen to develop the town and reinforce the sense of community.
